About Poker Bonuses

There are 1000's of poker rooms online today and all offer some kind of bonus to new and elderly members. It can be in the type of sign up bonuses, matching bonuses or loyalty bonuses. However, All of them come with restrictions. There's plenty of terms you need to familiarize yourself with. This can be a difficult task, so I put together a little information page, to cover the basics of poker bonuses.

First deposit bonus

This is a bonus offered to new players. It involves you making a deposit and the poker site giving you a percentage additional. The additional money you get can be anywhere between 10-200% on you deposit. You also must think about the maximum and maximum deposits to qualify for the bonus money. Maximum can be as low as $10 and maximum as high as $500. This type of bonus usually comes with a playthrough requirement*.

Loyalty bonuses

*Playthrough / bet requirements

All the bonuses you get after the "sign-on" bonus falls under this section. They usually take to type of rewards to players who place plenty of bets. The more you play the bigger the bonuses will be.

This refers to the amount you need to bet/wager/risk in order to cashout. A standard playthrough requirement is somewhere between 10-30 times the bonus or bankroll you get after your preliminary deposit. There is a massive difference here. Are the Playthrough / bet requirements on your bonus, or on your whole bankroll? You need to read the terms! Most major poker sites use a point method. This it when for every £/$/EUR you bet you get points, until you reach a level of which you can cashout.
